BerryChain on your iPhone

The iPhone app is out through Apple's TestFlight while the App Store listing is finished. It is the same app as the Android one: wallet, sealed letters, photos, the Harbourmaster, the nudge when a letter arrives. Installing it takes about two minutes and needs nothing but the phone.

What TestFlight is. Apple's own app for trying apps before they reach the App Store. It is free, made by Apple, and used by most iPhone developers. Apps installed through it work exactly like App Store apps; the only differences are a small orange dot next to the name and a 90-day life per build, which each update renews.

Part AInstall TestFlight

  1. On the iPhone, open the App Store and search for TestFlight.
  2. Install it. It is by Apple, free, with a blue icon showing a white propeller.
  3. You do not need to open it yet.

Part BJoin the BerryChain test

  1. On the iPhone, open this link in Safari: testflight.apple.com/join/tQH23M6v. Typing it, scanning it from a friend's screen, or tapping it in a message all work.
  2. A page titled Join the BerryChain beta appears. Tap Start Testing or View in TestFlight.
  3. TestFlight opens and shows BerryChain. Tap Accept, then Install.
  4. When the button says Open, tap it, or find BerryChain on your home screen like any other app.

Part CFirst run

  1. Tap Create a new wallet, give yourself a name (it is how your letters are signed; the chain never sees it) and a passphrase for this phone.
  2. Write the twelve recovery words on paper. They rebuild the wallet on any phone or PC; the phone does not matter, the words do.
  3. Tap Claim your starter. The phone works for a few seconds and 5 BERRY arrive with the next block.
  4. Open People, pick the Harbourmaster, and write him a letter. His reply carries a small welcome.

Already have a wallet in the browser or on Android? Tap I already have a wallet instead and type the twelve words: the same address, coins and letters come back.

Updates

New versions arrive through TestFlight. It will tell you, or open TestFlight and tap Update next to BerryChain. Your wallet and letters stay where they are.
